Enya's first studio album in some years was released.
The most private of women of the music world has quietly sold 64 million albums, and A Day Without Rain did not disappoint. A location shoot in her hometown of Dublin with photographer Sheila Rock was a break from the norm for Enya, presenting her in
a slightly more accessible way for possibly the first time since her first album. Not one for the spotlight, an interview-based documentary was commissioned, which was directed by Rob O'Connor, and finished in house, signifying a strong commitment from Stylorouge to video production. By 2006, 90% of the company's post production would be taken care of in-house. Another Dublin resident, Lisa Stansfield made her comeback album in 2001; Face Up didn't achieve the critical or fina
ncial success that she would have liked, but again, the sleeve remains a Stylorouge favourite; the photographer again was Eva Mueller. Celebrity restaurateur and some-time DJ Momo compiled the first of a series of world-music grooves, Arabesque, Stylorouge handled the visual side of Lucie Silvas' embryonic musical career for EMI, but it would be another four years before her debut release will appear, on another label.
Ted Baker launches its first Mens fragrance, Skinwear, and Stylorouge create the packaging. One of the UK's largest music catalogue owners, TMC (The Music Collection) change their name to Demon and commission Stylorouge to create the new brand identity. Forerunners of the genre that spawned Busted, the Dum Dums kept the company busy with campaigns for three hit singles and a debut album.
Other work this year included packaging for Beverley Knight and Morcheeba,
and promotional releases for the wonderful Straw, whose second album of perfectly crafted pop songs still sits on a record company shelf with artwork ready to go…
